Here at The London Road Osteopathy Clinic, we treat sports injuries every day. These can range massively from people at the very top of their particular sport and in peak physical fitness, all the way through to people just beginning in sport, trying to keep fit. A sports injury can be broadly defined as an injury that occurs in athletic activities or exercising.

Sports injuries are normally associated with the muscular and skeletal system and can be both chronic and acute in their nature. Common sports injuries include strains and sprains, which affect the tendons, muscles and ligaments as well as swelling, bruising and areas of muscular pain or aching.

Sports injuries respond particularly well to osteopathy. We encourage patients with sports injuries to take an active part in their recovery and devise treatment plans to include this.  Osteopathy for sports injuries aims to reduce recovery time and to minimise the chance of the injury reoccurring. We often put together specific stretch and strengthen plans for patients to complete at home.
